About this blog

Peru is known for their culture, their gastronomy and their beautiful landscapes. We are a country full of history and traditions, in addition to having a rich diversity of fauna, flora and different geographic climates. Nonetheless, what really makes Peru special as a country is the people, who are welcoming, friendly and united. Peruvians are also known because of their creativity and ability to solve problems. The pandemic that started in 2020 is proof that for the peruvian creativity anything is possible, even saving and creating new business ideas to survive this cruel reality that affected the entire world. In 2020 the pandemic caused by Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) started and in january 30 the WHO (World Health Organization) declared a health emergency of international concern, later in march 15 the then president of our country Martin Vizcarra made all peruvians go into quarantine, only being able to go outside if it was an emergency or to buy essential food, this politic lasted from the date mentioned before until July 1st. This brought a lot of uncertainty about how the peruvian business would survive this difficult time. All businesses were severely affected by the new virus of Covid-19, specially the tourism industry, and some of them had to instantly close due to the big economical problems this virus caused. The need to rebuild and solve their economic situation was something that had to be done immediately because people knew that this pandemic wouldn't last just a few weeks. This virus was so strong and contagious that it rapidly affected thousands of people in a split second. But how was this reactivation done? Some businesses decided to reinvent their employment through e-commerce, by remaking their work in many well-known pages like Instagram and Facebook. At first this was obviously not easy at all, because this was new to almost everyone but it was a must to adapt to this situation. Before the virus we had several businesses that worked only digitally, but now it’s like almost every company has its own virtual page, this was the easiest way the businesses could keep in contact with their customers, working on their necessities and how to keep making sales. An improvement that was born as a necessity but nowadays in consolidation, this new way of work, networking, comes to stay. It is a new challenge, and it is important to take advantage of this situation. Our objective with this blog is to show the innovation and resurgence of a strong and creative population like the Peruvian. We also look forward to showing the interesting and curious ideas that emerged from this pandemic to find a solution that would allow businesses to survive the change caused by Covid-19. In addition to this, we would like to share some stories of successful examples of entrepreneurship creation that allow us to see how with creativity and hard work a society can continue to develop despite the difficulties and how we can still see light in a tunnel that seems hopeless for a lot of people.

Psychological impact of Covid-19 on businesses

The pandemic of covid 19 had influenced a lot of business people and how they think, there are changes in their behavior, but also, in their values. However, this change offers a new definition of creative reinvention; this pandemic helps to rediscover own abilities in workers or professionals, and thanks to this, be able to reinventate an enterprise. Cuarentine seems to limit our physical movement, but our imagination will be free forever, and staying home was a new possibility to come up with newer and fresher ideas. Although to reach this, people have to suffer many variations in their work and with the environment they were used to. All of this, derives from bad feelings such as uncertainty, negation, or to be emotionally tired.

The uncertainty starts because pandemic is something that is out of our control, and everyday we are seeing that bad news occur. It is manifested in sadness, angs and fear. Even if things are bad, for our entrepreneurship we need to learn to make decisions without too much information and do a deeper analisis with the data we have at the moment.

Fortunately, in our critique, we are also able to glimpse certain positive effects on the psychology of individuals. If we manage to minimize the negatives and enhance the positives, we will find ourselves in a better position to confront what remains of this process and emerge stronger once we reach what will later be our new normal.

The collective exposure to the pandemic disease has helped awaken and increase solidarity in the teams. In our own businesses, solidarity can help us find agreements with various sectors that affect our trade, both internally and externally, by being able to reach agreements that benefit each of the parties and reduce the effect of the pandemic for all. Losing things or people, having a difficult relationship with someone, acquiring goods, or enjoying an experience has made us more grateful for what we have. Things we used to take for granted are now more expensive and more appreciated. Gratitude manifests itself as gratitude, appreciation and recognition. In our own efforts, this makes us better appreciate what we have achieved, even if it is not all that we would appreciate in normal situations, without pandemic disease, to recognize the efforts of helpers, to appreciate the cost of consumers. who, despite economic efforts, have decided to continue working.

We might mention that creativity is one of the positive effects that we see more strongly at the organizational level. We have been forced to reinvent ourselves, to look for new opportunities, to launch new products and services adapted to the new business conditions, to change the way we communicate. Creativity is proposed as investigation and novelty.
