About this blog

Peru is known for their culture, their gastronomy and their beautiful landscapes. We are a country full of history and traditions, in addition to having a rich diversity of fauna, flora and different geographic climates. Nonetheless, what really makes Peru special as a country is the people, who are welcoming, friendly and united. Peruvians are also known because of their creativity and ability to solve problems. The pandemic that started in 2020 is proof that for the peruvian creativity anything is possible, even saving and creating new business ideas to survive this cruel reality that affected the entire world. In 2020 the pandemic caused by Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) started and in january 30 the WHO (World Health Organization) declared a health emergency of international concern, later in march 15 the then president of our country Martin Vizcarra made all peruvians go into quarantine, only being able to go outside if it was an emergency or to buy essential food, this politic lasted from the date mentioned before until July 1st. This brought a lot of uncertainty about how the peruvian business would survive this difficult time. All businesses were severely affected by the new virus of Covid-19, specially the tourism industry, and some of them had to instantly close due to the big economical problems this virus caused. The need to rebuild and solve their economic situation was something that had to be done immediately because people knew that this pandemic wouldn't last just a few weeks. This virus was so strong and contagious that it rapidly affected thousands of people in a split second. But how was this reactivation done? Some businesses decided to reinvent their employment through e-commerce, by remaking their work in many well-known pages like Instagram and Facebook. At first this was obviously not easy at all, because this was new to almost everyone but it was a must to adapt to this situation. Before the virus we had several businesses that worked only digitally, but now it’s like almost every company has its own virtual page, this was the easiest way the businesses could keep in contact with their customers, working on their necessities and how to keep making sales. An improvement that was born as a necessity but nowadays in consolidation, this new way of work, networking, comes to stay. It is a new challenge, and it is important to take advantage of this situation. Our objective with this blog is to show the innovation and resurgence of a strong and creative population like the Peruvian. We also look forward to showing the interesting and curious ideas that emerged from this pandemic to find a solution that would allow businesses to survive the change caused by Covid-19. In addition to this, we would like to share some stories of successful examples of entrepreneurship creation that allow us to see how with creativity and hard work a society can continue to develop despite the difficulties and how we can still see light in a tunnel that seems hopeless for a lot of people.

About the changes in the bussines sector

The pandemia of covid 19 represents a challenge where peruvian people have to show off what they are capable of. The search for new models of business was the main idea to try to recover from the impact of this pandemia and, thanks to peruvian creativity, there were different strategies that businesses apply, and hopefully, clients accept and take these changes in a good way.

Audiovisual sector

Cinemas, theaters, etc are centers where people join to watch a movie or similar. The principal problem of this is that people are too close to each other and this is the thing that had to be avoided in covid times. One of the best ideas to surpass this problem is the creation of park cinemas. They are outdoor cinemas where you have to be in your car, so you don't have to care for the illness that could have people around you because your car will be a safe place. In addition to this, To be able to buy tickets online is also an important factor and certainly, was a revolutionary invention that became more and more famous. The time where you have to wake up early to go to a queue is part of the past. Furthermore, there are also differentes alternatives that this sector offers to people who don't want to go out. These are events via online, such as zoom, meet; so the change was enormous in this sector, but the benefits are a lot more.

Gastronomical sector

Restaurants were one of the main sectors severely affected by COVID-19, most of them at the start of the pandemia had to close instantly due to the great impact that the drop in clientele had in these. Many restaurants simply closed and went bankrupt, but there were others who went for a quick way out and opted for delivery, although several already had this method of sale, it was a big change since they couldn’t be served in the same premises, or if they did, they couldn't eat there. The confinement of March and April 2020 caused by the coronavirus pandemic caused the income of food delivery companies to skyrocket. After this period and the first wave of the coronavirus, the several waves of the pandemic and the sanitary restrictions caused the population to stay longer in their homes than they used to, which generated higher consumption through applications such as Uber Eats, Rappi, Pedidosya, among others.
