About this blog

Peru is known for their culture, their gastronomy and their beautiful landscapes. We are a country full of history and traditions, in addition to having a rich diversity of fauna, flora and different geographic climates. Nonetheless, what really makes Peru special as a country is the people, who are welcoming, friendly and united. Peruvians are also known because of their creativity and ability to solve problems. The pandemic that started in 2020 is proof that for the peruvian creativity anything is possible, even saving and creating new business ideas to survive this cruel reality that affected the entire world. In 2020 the pandemic caused by Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) started and in january 30 the WHO (World Health Organization) declared a health emergency of international concern, later in march 15 the then president of our country Martin Vizcarra made all peruvians go into quarantine, only being able to go outside if it was an emergency or to buy essential food, this politic lasted from the date mentioned before until July 1st. This brought a lot of uncertainty about how the peruvian business would survive this difficult time. All businesses were severely affected by the new virus of Covid-19, specially the tourism industry, and some of them had to instantly close due to the big economical problems this virus caused. The need to rebuild and solve their economic situation was something that had to be done immediately because people knew that this pandemic wouldn't last just a few weeks. This virus was so strong and contagious that it rapidly affected thousands of people in a split second. But how was this reactivation done? Some businesses decided to reinvent their employment through e-commerce, by remaking their work in many well-known pages like Instagram and Facebook. At first this was obviously not easy at all, because this was new to almost everyone but it was a must to adapt to this situation. Before the virus we had several businesses that worked only digitally, but now it’s like almost every company has its own virtual page, this was the easiest way the businesses could keep in contact with their customers, working on their necessities and how to keep making sales. An improvement that was born as a necessity but nowadays in consolidation, this new way of work, networking, comes to stay. It is a new challenge, and it is important to take advantage of this situation. Our objective with this blog is to show the innovation and resurgence of a strong and creative population like the Peruvian. We also look forward to showing the interesting and curious ideas that emerged from this pandemic to find a solution that would allow businesses to survive the change caused by Covid-19. In addition to this, we would like to share some stories of successful examples of entrepreneurship creation that allow us to see how with creativity and hard work a society can continue to develop despite the difficulties and how we can still see light in a tunnel that seems hopeless for a lot of people.

Young entrepreneurs

Peru is a country full of customs and traditions that are passed from generation to generation, thanks to families and their heritage. This rich cultural heritage not only influences our way of being and thinking, but also the way we face problems and this pandemic has not been the exception. We can see how many young people have been inspired or in some cases forced to continue growing thanks to their own businesses. These young entrepreneurs show us that with creativity, discipline and hard work we can see a hopeful future for our country.

And it is that not only deciding to be an entrepreneur in the current situation is a brave decision, but also a complicated one, since our economy is just recovering, and people are slowly regaining stability at home. In order to deal with unemployment, deciding to create your own business is a solution that many older people have taken as we have shown before in our blog. And it is this example, the one that teaches young people that it is possible to prosper through hard work and self-growth, which at the same time seeks the general growth of our country. In our opinion, there is no greater example of love for our country, than seeking to make it grow not only economically, but also that together we create a better society.

The government didn't leave the young entrepreneurs on their own instead, they wanted something better for them and to have some ground in order to start this new chapter in their lives so they created “Impulsate Joven”, this course was an initiative of the program “Contacto Joven”, it was via Zoom and it included themes like formalization and legal bases, design thinking, market analysis, branding and eco branding, social media marketing and e-commerce. This course also had the advantage where the student had advisory by business students from Pacífico university, the only requirements they asked for were to be on a range age of 18 to 28, the person who wanted to subscribe must have´d a business idea and availability on tuesdays and fridays (classes were given those days from 6 to 9 pm).
